Long Exposure Photography

As I have previously mentioned, I recently attended a photo excursion at Sky Mountain Lodge. One of my favorite things to do was practice long exposure photography. Most photographs are taken with a very short exposure so learning to shoot longer was an awesome experience.

We learned about light painting by Dave Black, lighting orbs, and daytime long exposure (even though that is not included right now because we did not find any good flowing water or moving clouds to work with.) Most of these images were taken with at least a 10 second shutter speed and a very open aperture. We used flash lights, speed lights, Christmas lights, or the stars to light up our scenes. And of course, a tripod was 100% necessary in the making of these images.
